Les Figues Camp Description
Les Figues Camp is a 5-day / 4-night (July 8-12) writing engagement with workshops, talks, readings, and conversations led by Les Figues Press editors, authors and guests. Hosted at a family-owned compound of original log cabins in Big Bear, California, Figues Camp provides intensive and intimate conversations about writing and the social imaginary.

Workshop leaders and guest speakers include: Anna Joy Springer, Selah Saterstrom, Kyoo Lee, Frances Richard, Amanda Ackerman, Elena Karina Byrne, and Teresa Carmody.

Workshops meet for two sessions, from 10:00-12:30. Each workshop is limited to six participants. The groups are not genre-bound.

The tuition for attending Figues Camp is $995 ($750 for current students). Tuition includes all camp activities (workshops, talks, and readings) plus lodging and nightly dinners.

Scholarships: Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we are able to offer Figues Camp scholarships. A select number of Figues Camp applicants will be eligible to attend camp for $500 total. Scholarships are need-based. To apply for a scholarship, please include a short statement (300 words max) about your current situation and why you want to attend Figues Camp. Scholarship recipients = assist in the daily cooking, cleaning, and general maintenance of camp activities.

Proceeds from Figues Camp help fund the Kathy Acker Fellowship at Les Figues Press. The Kathy Acker Fellowship is a 10-month, part-time paid position supporting an emerging writer/artist, literary editor, or arts organizer. Kathy Acker Fellows learn the ins-and-outs of small press publishing while also completing a creative/curatorial project.
